Membership Types

Queensland Cruising Yacht Club offers excellent facilities, an active sailing calendar and, most importantly of all, a friendly atmosphere where lifelong members and first-time visitors are made to feel equally welcome.

The club has a strong and growing membership base. As well as a love of sailing, family and friendship are two common bonds that tie us together. Whether a keen Junior only just starting out or a sailor with a lifetime’s experience, both are equally welcome, as are any ages in between!

In fact, you don’t need to be a sailor at all to join the Club. QCYC has a range of memberships to cater for most requirements, for boat owners and skippers right through to Social Memberships for those less interested in spending time out on the water but wishing to enjoy the Clubhouse facilities and the fantastic atmosphere. There are also excellent rates available to Juniors and our Family Membership, offering membership to two adults and two children up to the age of 18, represents equally good value. 

A valid Australian Sailing Number (ASN) is essential for persons crewing in any official club race organised by QCYC.  For those wishing to try out racing as a crew member (and you do not have a current Sailing membership and a valid ASN) you may obtain dispensation via a SailPass, issued by Australian Sailing via our SailPass portal.  Credit on your SailPass will be applied to any form of Sailing membership at QCYC in the current financial year of purchase.  See the conditions as listed at the SailPass portal.  Please click here to explore SailPass further or to apply.

Full Membership  – $550 per annum

  • Entitles the member to stand for election to and be elected to serve or appointed to serve in an office bearing position under the QCYC Inc Constitution.

  • Entitles one adult use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing.

  • Member is provided with one set of access keys or fobs for entry to secure car parking and marina.

  • Voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.

  • May sign in guests.

  • Benefits provided through affiliation with Australian Sailing.

  • Eligible to store vessel within marina or hardstand on long term basis for a fee.

  • Eligible to moor at Club marina for a one night stay free of charge.

  • Eligible to fly QCYC burgee and display QCYC lettering on stern of vessel and apply for registration and use of their Sail number in conjunction with the officially recognised QCY prefix.

  • Discount on short term mooring at Club.

  • Entitles member to join QCYC Sailing Club Group.

  • Receive a discount on food and beverage purchases.  Current membership card must be presented at time of purchase for validation.  Card usage is not transferable.

  • Access to enhanced marine insurance policy through Coverforce

 Family Membership – $682 per annum

  • Entitles the adult members to stand for election to and be elected to serve or appointed to serve in an office bearing position under the QCYC Inc Constitution.

  • Entitles two adults & two children up to the age of 18 use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing.

  • Available for those residing outside a 75km radius of Clubhouse.

  • Entitles one adult use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing.

  • May sign in guests.

  • Benefits provided through affiliation with Australian Sailing.

  • Eligible to moor at Club marina for a one night stay free of charge.

  • Eligible to fly QCYC burgee and display QCYC lettering on stern of vessel.

  • Discount on short term mooring at Club.

  Crew Membership – $231 per annum

       – includes an Australia Sailing Number   

  • Entitles one adult use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing.

  • Benefits provided through affiliation with Australian Sailing.

  • Receives a discount on overnight and short term mooring at Club.

  • Entitles member to join QCYC Sailing Club Group.

  • Receive a discount on food and beverage purchases.  Current membership card must be presented at time of purchase for validation.  Card usage is not transferable.

  • Access to enhanced marine insurance policy through Corverforce.

Junior Membership – $110 per annum  

       – includes an Australian Sailing Number. 

  • Entitles one under 18 year old use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing.
  • Benefits provided through affiliation with Australian Sailing.
  • Receives a discount on overnight and short term mooring at Club.
  • Entitles member to join QCYC Sailing Club Group.
  • Receive a discount on food purchases.  Current membership card must be presented at time of purchase for validation.  Card usage is not transferable.
  • Access to enhanced marine insurance policy through Coverforce.

  Social Membership – $20 annual

  • Entitles one adult use of Clubhouse facilities subject to rules, bylaws and liquor licensing during Restaurant & Bar opening hours.

  • Receive a discount on food purchases.  Current membership card must be presented at time of purchase for validation.  Card usage is not transferable.  Link to Social Membership application portal below.

  • Join with Social Membership and receive your digital membership card now.

 Membership Notes:

  • The membership year runs from the 1st July to the 30th June.

  • Yacht owners wishing to store their boat within the marina or hardstand are required to be Full or Family Members.

  • New members who wish to join as Full, Family or Country members are required to pay a one off joining application fee of $150.00

  • Memberships started after the 1st January: New members or returning members who have not been financial for more than twelve months will receive a 50% discount on the current years membership fees. Returning members who became un-financial in the last twelve months will receive a 33% discount on the current years membership fees. No discount is applicable for social membership. Discounts on Crew and Junior membership only apply to the membership portion of the package.

  • Memberships started after the 1st April: New members or returning members who have not been financial for more than twelve months will receive a 75% discount on the current years membership fees. Returning members who became un-financial in the last twelve months will receive a 66% discount on the current year’s membership fees. No discount is applicable for social membership. Discounts on Crew and Junior membership only apply to the membership portion of the package.

  • The deposit for Members Keys is $50 per set

  • All prices are inclusive of GST

  • Prospective Full, Family or Country members must be nominated. If you are unable to be nominated for membership by an existing member we require the contact details of two character referees or your previous marina/hardstand provider. All membership applications are presented to the Executive Committee for endorsement. 

  • Applications for all levels of Sailing membership may be made by completing one of the hard copy forms available at the buttons below for download. Social membership applications may be made in person at the club.  Please note that if an application is for Full, Family or Country membership it is accepted provisionally until ratified at a subsequent management committee.  Should an application either be withdrawn (before consideration) or not accepted by management committee, a full refund of any fees paid will be made.

Persons wishing to place their boat in the marina or hardstand must contact the office to confirm availability and be allocated a space.
