The Fishing Club wasn formed by a few QCYC based fishos to add a bit of fun and extend some experiences in fishing. It is not or intended to be a highly competitive scene but a friendly group of keen amateur anglers. Our intention is cover all types of fishing with minimum rules imposed. Just good fun.

There is no charge to join the fishing club and we would welcome all QCYC members to get involved. Non QCYC members are also most welcome to join us for one of our events and give it a try out before joining the Yacht Club. Non members can launch right next door at the public ramps on competition day and join the start up. We try to get together for a beer and a chat every few weeks normally just before the competition. Meetings are notified by email and also on the QCYC website. Anyone interested in competing or joining the Club please get in touch.

24th July 2010 Minimize
The weather forecast was marginal but 4 boats ventured out.

As it turned out the conditions in the bay were better than forecast but outside north of Moreton was difficult going.

The event covered both reef fish and pelagics with the winning fish a very nice 9.75kg yellow tale kingfish caught by Colin Elliot offshore north of Moreton using a live pike on 15kg line. Well done Col.

The other species caught mainly in the north of the bay were:

Squire
Taylor
Whiting
Barracuda
Flounder
Bream
Pike
Parrot Fish
Sea Pike
Snapper

With the exception of Colin’s kingfish it was not a great day for size but the variety indicated a wide range of skills and interests in the fishing group.
