Sailability

Sailability Shorncliffe Inc conducts sailing for people with disabilities at Queensland Cruising Yacht Club. Sailability Shorncliffe is a "not for profit", volunteer-based organisation which, through the activity of sailing, enriches the lives of people with disabilities.

With the first sailing day held in mid 2007, Sailability Shorncliffe has received a huge amount of interest from both volunteers and clients for this program. Sailability uses specially designed sailing boats called Access Dinghies which enable the client to sail in safety and comfort. Clients are teamed up with a volunteer who will guide them through their sail.

When: Monday each week
Time:10am to approximately 12noon
Cost: $10 per client per session

Clients need to wear enclosed shoes (sneakers/joggers are ideal) and we suggest they bring along a jumper/jacket as it can get cool near the water. Life jackets are provided by Sailability Shorncliffe.

A sausage sizzle is held after each session and we encourage you to stay and chat to other clients and volunteers. Volunteers are the backbone of Sailability and if you are interested in helping out either on or off the water please get in touch.
