Cruising at the Club
Well Sailors and Sailorettes the June long weekend club cruise did not work out as planned. With winds up to 33 knots and rain forecast the smart move was to stay in port. The Slack Sailor and First Mate went to Karragarra two days early to set up. The Thursday and Friday were the best days you could possibly have. A great sail across the bay, walks on Karra and Macleay impressed both of us, but on Saturday morning with the rain coming down and the winds picking up a decision had to be made.
Several phone calls could not identify anyone coming over so we made the move to come back to the club before it blew up. Through all this, on our return we heard Phil Wrench had headed over. Sorry Phil, I will make it up to you. Still, there was plenty of action around the club with everyone making up for the lost opportunity with some important socializing along the fingers.
We began planning for the next one with a very simple approach this time. The destination is the beach at Colmslie in the Brisbane River, just past the Gateway Bridge on the right heading towards town. Nice short run and well protected. The plan is to pick up some seafood at Raptis Seafood to bring back to the reserve and then enjoy the company. The date is Saturday 16th August and to keep track of everyone, would you be kind enough to either ring me on 0401 106 726 or email maurie.soars@bullivants.com. I hope to see you there.
